SANGAM WOULD be a sangam (confluence) of Ollywood and Bollywood,’’ says its producer-director Jatin Kumar Agarrwal as he talks to us at the Mahurat of the film at a city hotel in the Capital on Monday. Agarrwal, a Mumbai-based seasoned film producer under Jayashree Enterprise banner, is in the State to ‘experience and explore the Oriya film scene’ after having a taste of the Hindi and Bhojpuri filmdom. ‘‘My only link to Oriya film industry has been popular actor Buddhaditya (nephew of Mumbai-based ace Oriya actress Maheswata Ray). I had cast him in my Hindi film and was quite impressed....
Aptly as the producer-director says, Ollywood’s veteran screenplay writer Bijoy Mishra and Bollywood’s Abhijit Ghatwari have teamed up for Sangam’s screenplay and dialogue. Further, he has roped in Mumbai-based Harprit as his music composer while ace cinematographer nitin pans the camera. ‘

‘I am introducing budding actress Jyoti Pani from Mumbai who also hails from Orissa. Jyoti has already clicked in modeling and ad films in Mumbai,’’ adds Agarwal. ‘‘I will do my best to prove my potential and live up to the expectations of my mentor and the audience of my State,’’ quips Jyoti.
Besides Buddhaditya, star actors Siddhant, Bijay Mohanty, Mihir Das and Jayeeram Samal have been in the cast that also features Aakash, the new face among the Ollywood heroes. The Mumbai-based filmmaker has set his target on Ganesh puja that he considers auspicious to release his film. Shooting would go non-stop in Orissa and Mumbai as the story - a romantic one - is set in both the coasts of the country, hints Agarwal.
